Slumberkins
As an Artistic Lead on Slumberkins, the Emmy-nominated show from Jim Henson Company, Factory Create, and AppleTV+, I worked with the 2D background team to bring the Slumberkins’ world to life on screen.
I worked closely with the art direction team to visually develop the style and final look of the 2D painted environments you see in the show. Based on initial production design concepts by Matthew Forsythe, I continued to flesh out the color and design of each Slumberkins’ home region, as well as developing unique color palettes for the key environments in the series.
I also designed and painted numerous backgrounds and props for the show, creating finished BG assets for both the interiors of the ‘Kins’ homes and the exterior world in which they live and play.
Based on the emotional learning brand of the same name, this show uniquely combines puppetry and 2D animation to tell stories that help children learn to process their emotions through the experiences of the characters.
As a part of my prop design for the show, I had the amazing opportunity to collaborate with the practical props team in designing the fabric prints that were then made into real bedding for the puppets!
